One of many of the side-effects of working in any retail store.....I arrived around 7:45AM to the STRONG stench of freshly waxed floors in our store! No fans were used by the cleaning crew and they were late getting finshed - just before I'd arrived. The manager already there was suffering from the effects, as was one of my co-workers. I soon follwed as did the 9 o'clock arrival. All day we took turns going outside to breath "fresh" air, and quell the headaches and sour stomachs. One got to go home early, the other cashier and I had to wait for the closing calvary to arrive some 6 hours later.
The store has NO cross ventilation. We left the automatic, front doors open, and WAY in the back, through the recieving doors, the manager was able to prop the stock door open an inch or so, so no "thief" could slide under and enter. WOW! What a difference that made! Can you spell s-a-r-c-a-s-t-i-c?!
I was lucky enough to leave an hour early, and still can feel the air flow through my nostrils as wind on ice. I pity the night crew and ones who I left behind.
Can you spell O-S-H-A or L&I?
See, we retail clerks do have hazard duty occasionally.
